SUPPORTER QUOTES

"We’re proud that Newark is our hometown and know that its beauty continues to be realized in its rich culture and passionate people. The Beautiful Newark campaign is an essential step towards accentuating these great qualities, and ensures that both our citizens and visitors fully recognize the countless benefits and unlimited potential of our great city".

--The Three Doctors: Sampson Davis MD, George Jenkins DMD and Rameck Hunt MD

“How often have you thought about something you’d like to see happen and said, ‘That would be great, maybe one day we can make it happen.’

Together we can start something that will literally grow as the year progresses. Certainly it will take more than one day to achieve all of the ambitious goals expressed by Mayor Cory Booker and Superintendent Marion Bolden. But they have planted the seed, and that seed will start to grow ONE DAY.”

-- Dr. Raymond Lindgren, Executive Assistant, Superintendent’s Office, Newark Public Schools

"The key to our momentum is to create the buzz with events like ONE DAY. Then we have to maintain the buzz and stay with it until we get Newark Beautiful."
--Sam Delgado, Vice President, Community and Stakeholder Affairs, Verizon

"Let’s start by getting the kids out to clean up, plant flower bulbs, and then maybe they will want to make a difference in other ways."
--John R. Smith, Director, Corporate Responsibility, PSE&G

“Beautifying Newark not only resonates with the spirit of Newark, but with the spirit of the beautifulness that we have within each one of us and how it can radiate to our entire city. Like the lights that shine on one of my favorite places in Newark - the Cathedral on Clifton Avenue…I just think about it and it fills me with peace.”
--Margarita Muñiz, Deputy Mayor of Neighborhood Engagement

“I think having a clean neighborhood is a big part of promoting quality of life in the city...For example, Branch Brook Park is a beautiful landmark. It’s in the heart of Newark. I really enjoy my time exercising there. I think that having a more beautiful city is part of the image we want residents to embrace.”
--Anibal Ramos, Jr., North Ward Councilman
"Let's harness the power of everyone in our communities to create a Beautiful Newark."
--Mo Butler, President & CEO, Newark Now

The Real Heroes of Newark
