The People of Newark in action:

Each school of the Newark Public School District cleaned and beautified the area around their schools.

New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) cleaned along the streets of Newark, leading to their school.

Rutgers University, Newark, held a student clean-up and planted trees along their campus.

The Port Authority of NJ/NY cleaned the roadways leading to the Newark Airport as well as donating flowers to Barringer High School and Mt. Vernon School for Earth Day.

NJ Transit removed graffiti from numerous areas along their transit routes.

The City of Newark’s Department of Neighborhood and Recreational Services cleaned the streets along Runyon Street and Elizabeth Avenue.

Covanta Energy cleaned the entryway along Raymond Boulevard leading to their plant.

Enterprise Car Rental picked up litter and planted in West Side Park.

Cablevision picked up litter and planted in West Side Park.

McCarter-English picked up litter and planted West Side Park.

Sun Microsystems helped plant flowers at Mt. Vernon School.

Shabbaz Hair cleaned the street between Bleeker Street and New Street.

And each Super Neighborhood of Newark did an amazing job of cleaning up and beautifying their community.
